Brussels – The congratulations come from all over Veneto for the prestigious appointment of Professor Fabio Zwirner from University of Padua to the Scientific Council of the European Research Council (ERC). “It’s definitely cause for pride for the University of Padova and the entire Veneto university system, which is one of our excellences,” said the Veneto Governor. Zwirner was called to be a part of an organization that represents the European scientific world and decides the strategy and distribution of funding from the European Research Council. Zwirner joins Barbara Ensoli, already director of the National Center for AIDS at the Italian Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) at the ERC. Tomas Jungwirth of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and Dame Janet Thornton from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) were also appointed to the same four-year term as Zwirner.
