Mora – The Italian Cooperation has decided to allocate an emergency contribution of €350.000 in favor of the IOM, the International Organization for Migration. The fund will support assistance activities to refugees, IDPs and host communities in northern Cameroon in the face of a worsening humanitarian situation caused by continued violence perpetrated by Boko Haram. The Italian contribution will focus on the activities carried out by IOM in the northern districts of Mayo-Sava, Mayo-Tsanaga and Logone-et-Chari, on the border with Nigeria, where there are 70.000 IDPs and Nigerian 50.000 refugees. The humanitarian response in these areas, characterized by recurring malnutrition, food insecurity and cholera, is still insufficient due to dire security and entry conditions. (9Colonne)
