(Apr. 2) “Leonardo in Washington is surprisingly at home. My show is indeed a tribute and a dialogue at the same time between two works by Leonardo, both at the National Gallery: the beautiful portrait of Ginevra de’ Benci and the Madonna Dreyfus”. So speaks Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, actor, playwright and director from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, who in these days is playing the role of Leonardo Da Vinci. His play “Essere Leonardo Da Vinci (Being Leonardo da Vinci)”, a biography of the polyhedric artist and scientist, after being premiered in London on the occasion of the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci- Painter at the court of Milan”, has made stops in Japan and now has landed in the United States. After the success in Chicago, where the show has been sold out, tonight thoughts and words of Leonardo (in addition to his Renaissance language) will be protagonist in one of the most important centers of performing arts in the world: the Kennedy Center Washington. The interview impossible to Leonardo da Vinci, which is the format of the show which includes 67 questions to the character played by Leonardo Finazzer Flory, in Washington will as interviewer Canadian cellist and composer Julia Kent, known in Italy for his collaboration with Paolo Sorrentino in the film “This Must Be the Place.” As for the other stages of the US tour, the show is introduced by the contemporary dance choreographed by Michela Lucenti, dedicated to parties of the Renaissance court, of which Leonardo was grand master. Great expectations, meanwhile, for the arrival of the show in Italy: “Being Leonardo da Vinci” will be presented in Italy during the Expo. The appointment is in Milan at the Museum of Technology and Science every Saturday from May 9th to October.
