Apr. 17 – The reading of Dante’s Inferno was a big success. So on April 26 Munich hosts the “Dante Marathon” dedicated to Purgatory, with a reading in the original Italian (surtitles in German) by teachers and students of the Munich Ludwig Maximilian University, as well as supporters and friends of Italian culture in the Bavarian town, including Michael von Cranach, Gerhard Polt and the Consul General of Italy, Filippo Scammacca del Murgo (9.30am – 7pm Bayerische Staatsbibliothek). The Italian Cultural Institute in Munich organized the event with the Bavarian State Library, the Institute of Italian Philology / LMU, the Italy Forum eV and Lyrik Kabinett. The event kicks off in Munich Dante’s year, on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the Florentine poet’s birth. The marathon is divided into five independent blocks, punctuated by musical interludes performed by local artists. As a support to the understanding of the content, the Ludwig Maximilian University offers from April 16 to July 16, a series of readings of Dante.
