London – Red blood cells can be considered microscopic lenses with well-defined properties, such as magnification and variable focal length, just like a camera with a zoom. The laboratories of the Institute of Cybernetics at the National Research Council (ICIB-CNR) in Pozzuoli announced the discovery carried out by a group of researchers headed by director Pietro Ferraro, in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced biomaterials for health care at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Naples, directed by Paolo Netti. The article detailing the discovery was published in Nature Communications. (9colonne)
