May 11 – The countdown in Moscow for the new edition of the Italomania 2015 Festival has officially begun. The two-day event – scheduled for June 6-7 – will feature Italian language lessons, seminars and workshops. The Central House of the Artist (Krymskij Val, 10) is hosting the Festival, organized by the newspaper “Mosca Oggi” – in cooperation with UniCredit, the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow. This year’s theme is Italian mosaics, thanks to mosaic artist Marco Bravura, who will explain mosaics made in Italy and will present some of his works. Bravura lives and works between Moscow and Ravenna, where he was born 66 years ago. After graduating from the State Institute of Mosaic Art in Ravenna, Bravura completed his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In Ravenna, after a long experience abroad, Bravura opened his mosaic studio in 1987. The artist has based his career on the re-elaboration of Ravenna’s mosaic tradition. The artist, as stated on his website, also founded a school of mosaic in Beirut thanks to a protocol of cooperation with the Municipality of Ravenna and the Centre for Professional Training in the Province of Ravenna. In recent years, Bravura has collected awards and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad (such as the Venice Biennale in 2011 and the Fourth Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art). His works are on display in museums, various institutions, banks and private collections across Europe, Russia and the United States. His work “Ardea Purpurea,” inspired by the “Vie dell’Amicizia” of the Ravenna Festival, has been included in the list of modern works in the World Heritage Sites of the Adriatic. (Red)
