May 12 – “Nothing is more distant from our idea of classical Greece than these images. However, pain, death, mourning, and tragedy are eternal and absolute elements that can very well tie these our contemporaneity with an ancient Greek tragedy,” claims Pier Paolo Pasolini’s narrative voice in “Notes Towards an African Orestes”, the documentary film shot in 1970 during a site visit in Africa for his next film production, never completed, a film that took its cue from the tragedy of Aeschylus’ Oresteia. The “Notes” will be screened tomorrow night (at 9pm) at the amphitheater of the University of Arts in Tirana, as part of DocuTiff 2015, an event that aims to encourage the production of the documentary film in Albania. The screening is sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute and Tirana Open 1.
