May 19 – Italy took part in the sixteenth edition of the Arab Television and Radio Festival organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union, recently held in Hammamet. The event featured specialized workshops and a vast market of television and radio programs, and saw the participation of 23 TV channels, 6 radio channels and 54 production and distribution companies representing 14 Arab countries and 5 countries in Europe and Asia. Over the years, 74 documentaries have been produced from 19 broadcasters in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, France, Jordan, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, San Marino, Syria, Slovenia, Spain, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen. Rai has taken part in all editions, this year with the documentary “In un solo respiro” by Luca Rosini, produced by RAI-2. Pier Luigi Malesani, Secretary General of COPEAM (the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean) spoke at a panel discussion focused on Euro-Arab co-productions, taking as example “Inter-Rives”, a COPEAM-ASBU project that recently held its fourth edition, on the theme “Sports Without Borders.”
