May 26 – Zurich, Berlin, and Frankfurt: these are the confirmed stops of the promotional tour for “Der Fall Bramard” or “Il caso Bramard”, the latest novel by Davide Longo. The book was translated and published in German by the publishing house Rowohlt. Published last year by Feltrinelli (“I Narratori”, p. 256) “Il caso Bramard” focuses on Corso Bramard, the youngest police commissario in Italy. Brooding, unfathomable, introverted yet capable of insights close to clairvoyance, Bramard finds his opponent in a serial killer who kidnaps and kills his wife Michelle and daughter Martina. Since then, twenty years have passed. Corso lives in an old house in the hills, he teaches in a high school in the province, and spends most of his time climbing the mountains alone, often at night and without safety devices, in the obvious hope of dying. Yet something remains alive in him: his obsession, cultivated with quiet firmness, to find his enemy… Longo lives in Turin, where he teaches writing at the Scuola Holden. His books are translated in many languages. The appointment today (at the Literaturhaus of Zurich, at 7:30pm with Isabelle Vonlanthen and Rebecca Burckhardt) is the first of three scheduled meetings. Tomorrow, the writer – who is also a documentary filmmaker and author of texts for theater and radio – will stop by the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin (for a meeting that sees Maike Albath as moderator), while on Thursday, May 28 at 8pm, Longo will be Frankfurt (Romanfabrik eV Frankfurt, Hanauer Landstr. 186, Frankfurt / M.). The meeting on Thursday is promoted in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Frankfurt and Romanfabrik eV Frankfurt. Author Elettra de Salvo will be moderating.
