London – Gianni Piacentino, 70-year-old artista from Turin, is displaying his works until June 20 at the Michael Werner Gallery in London. The exhibition, curated by the director of the Center for Contemporary Art in Geneva, Andrea Bellini, traces Piacentino’s career. Piacentino is a founding member of the Arte Povera movement, which began in the mid-1960s creating prototypes of vehicles with industrial materials, sculptures with basic geometric shapes made of wood and plastic, and developing, in parallel, an original idea of painting. The artist’s works are exhibited in the permanent collections of the Modern Art Gallery of Turin, the Museum of Reggio Emilia, the Power Institute of Fine Arts in Sydney (Australia), the National Gallery of Berlin and the Neuen Museums Weserburg of Bremen
