(Jun. 4) Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, better known as Il Volo, won the 2015 PMI, awarded by the Association of Italian Indipendent Music Manufacturers. The last winners of the Sanremo Festival were awarded for the “outstanding contribution to the enhancement of Italian musical culture in the world.” The PMI is designed to celebrate every year the Italian artist or band that has stood in the dissemination of music and Italian culture in the world. Mario Limongelli, PMI president, said that “the prize awarded to Il Volo is a token of our admiration for their growing success and confirms the will of our association to continue to consistently work to give back to the heritage of Italian music levels of attention it deserves, in Italy and abroad. We are sure that Il Volo will represent abroad the Italian culture and music in the best possible way.” The award, created for the occasion by Claudio Nicoli, will be delivered by PMI honorary president Dori Ghezzi during the 2015 Wind Music Awards, to be held this evening at the Verona Arena.
