Brussels – It’s one of the most extraordinary challenges of modern science: putting together all available knowledge on the human brain to then rebuild its operative system on highly advanced computer platforms. The goal is to find a cure for degenerative diseases of the nervous system, but also to create intelligent supercomputers. The “Human Brain Project” was selected by the European Union in 2013 as a flag project for the next decade, along with Graphene. The project involves more than one hundred European and international research institutes. These include the European Laboratory for Nonlinear Spectroscopy of the University of Florence, the University of Pavia, the Interuniversity Consortium CINECA in Bologna, the Scuola Sant’Anna, the EBRI, the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, and the CNR. “The presence of Italian research groups in this project is significant, confirming the excellence of scientific research in our country,” said Francesco Pavone, from the University of Florence.” (9Colonne)
