June 12 – Tanec Praha is an international modern dance festival held in Prague for the entire month of June. Italy is featured with Claudia Catarzi and the show “Qui, ora” sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague within the Festival. Catarzi’s individual performance is scheduled for June 15-16 at 8pm at the Ponec Prague theater. In “Qui, ora” – a work that comes from a body willing to improvise, anywhere in space – dance becomes a recipient and creator of sounds. The show has received numerous awards and has been selected for the Aerowaves Spring Forward 2014. The artist looks into the reactions of a body in space, in which she develops the show (an empty scene), and in relationship to costumes. The music serves then as the backdrop for the performance and the interaction with the public. The empty stage underlines the specificity and strength of the language of dance. Before working on her individual performances, Claudia Catarzi was a part of important international dance companies, like the Ohad Naharin Batsheva Dance Company. (Red)
