June 18 – Made in Maremma Sessanta 2011, PDO wine from Tuscany, is produced by the Tenuta Casteani di Gavorrano (Grosseto). This wine continues to reap awards at the international level, the latest of which is the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2015, one of the few worldwide awards that takes place in Europe. The jury awarded a prestigious gold medal to Sessanta 2011. “This red wine is the most evocative of the land in which it was born and it is an expression of the Maremma uniqueness and tradition,” explained Mario Pelosi, owner and winemaker at Tenuta Casteani, recalling that “this noble wine is made by 80% of Sangiovese grapes with the rest coming from Alicante, and its alcohol volume is 14.5°. It has a deep and compact red color, it offers hints of red berries, but its flavor combines the nature of wine with the flavors of the Mediterranean, with a good balance between tannin and acidity.” Pelosi continued, “this is a relevant certificate for the entire area, because it shows that Maremma and Grosseto can produce top quality wines, appreciated by experts and consumers worldwide. This is a land that produces wines able to redeem an area that has lived in the shadows of more famous Tuscan locations. And this award will be, I hope, a stimulus for local producers to focus even more on the type of quality that rewards commitment and dedication.”
