Pristina – Camp Film City, headquarters of the multinational NATO force in Kosovo, hosted its first international conference on gender perspective. The event, organized by the KFOR Command and Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, opened with the screening of a video message from the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, who expressed to COMKFOR his “gratitude for the attention given to the issue of gender equality, which is a clear example of the multi-ethnic composition of the force under Figliuolo’s command. ” In his opening speech, General Figliuolo recalled that NATO is constantly committed to “integrating a gender perspective within its doctrines, plans and orders. The application of a gender perspective – added the COMKFOR – allows peacekeepers to better understand society.
