26 June, 2015 – The XXXII edition of the International Film Festival in Jerusalem – scheduled for July 9-19 – this year offers 10 days of great cinema: the best of Israeli and foreign cinematography. The opening event, however, has an all-Italian flavor, thanks to Nanni Moretti’s “Mia Madre” that will kick off the Festival. The event – sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv in collaboration with the Festival, Adamas Italy-Israel, RAI Cinema and Cinecittà Luce – will take place at Sultan’s Pool, a very picturesque location just outside the Old City walls. Moretti’s most recent work was released in Italian cinemas last April and presented in competition at the 68th Cannes Film Festival. The feature stars Margherita Buy, John Turturro, Giulia Lazzarini and the director himself. The film revolves around a difficult period in Margherita’s life, a successful director. Margherita is making a film starring an eccentric American actor (John Turturro, who will also speak at the opening of the Festival). Meanwhile she, alongside her perfect brother Giovanni, assists her old, hospitalized mother. Between shooting the film – which turns out to be more complicated than expected – her teenage daughter and the pain and imminent mourning, Margherita starts confusin reality and dream.
