Paris – After Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara and Bozar in Brussels, it is now the time for Paris – where, until July 19, the Cinémathèque française hosts an exhibition on Michelangelo Antonioni. The European tour of the exhibition first created for Palazzo dei Diamanti by the Ferrara Arte Foundation initiative, was staged in Belgium last fall, and now arrives in one of the temples of world cinema, the Cinémathèque française, an institution presided over by Costa Gavras and directed by Serge Toubiana. The retrospective on the Ferrara-native filmmaker is presented under the title “Antonioni, aux origines du Pop. Cinéma, photographie, mode,” and, as in the tradition of the Cinémathèque, it is accompanied by movie screenings. The starting point of the show is the director’s personal library, a heritage preserved at the Gallerie d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Ferrara, Antonioni Museum: photographs, manuscripts, screenplays, letters, testimonials from colleagues and friends, and works of art created by Antonioni himself that allows the visitor to discover the artist’s multiplicity. After Paris, the exhibition will move to the Eye Museum in Amsterdam in the fall, continuing its triumphant journey across Europe. (9Colonne)
