July 3, 2015 – “I’m not Italian, I’m Neapolitan! It’s another thing!” said Sophia Loren in an interview with Barbara Walters, renown US journalist and TV presenter. One of the biggest stars in film history, Sophia Loren has been and still is an icon of beauty, talent, charm, and art. And so, last year, Marco Spagnoli, film critic for Globalist and editor of the Giornale dello Spettacolo, made a documentary about her: “Donne nel Mito: Sophia racconta la Loren”. The film was presented on September 5, 2014 at the 71st Venice International Film Festival. In it, Spagnoli accompanies the audience in the discovery of the artist and woman that is Sophia. And now the documentary (40’, produced by NBC Universal Global Networks Italia) lands across the border. On Monday, July 27 in Sibenik, a city in Croatia on the Adriatic coast – in the region of Dalmatia – at 8pm, Azimut Club, on Obala Palih Omladinaca 2, will screen the film. The event – titled “Ieri Oggi Sophia- ritratti di una diva” – is sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb. Written and directed by Spagnoli (who worked on the project for a full year), Donne nel Mito is the portrait of Sophia Loren according to the artist herself. Through clips of interviews, Sophia details her inner self as an actress and woman. The documentary was created to celebrate Loren’s 80th birthday and her immense charm and talent.
