Tehran – After the announcement of the historic agreement between the P5+1 and Iran, SACE published a new insight on the evolution of the sanctions system since 2006 and on the prospects that will open up for Italian companies. According to its research department, the gradual rollback of the sanctions could lead to an increase in Italian exports of almost €3 billion over the next four years. Despite the tightening of sanctions of 2011, which significantly cut trade between the two countries, Italy remains among the major trading partners of Iran. In the absence of sanctions, Italy would have been able to accumulate more exports for a value of about €17 billion euro in the 2006-2018 period. However, regaining the lost market share in Iran won’t be easy, considering that competitors such as China, India, Russia and Brazil have suffered far fewer constraints in recent years, earning an important position within the country. But the opportunity to do it now is, especially in sectors such as oil & gas, automotive, defense, transport, real estate and more generally areas related to construction. (9Colonne)
