Tirana – In the first days of July, Vlore saw kick off the works planned under the project “Rehabilitation of the port of Vlore “, funded by the Italian Cooperation with a contribution of over €15 million euro in bilateral ODA flows. The first phase of activities consists in the attachment to the ground of vertical load-bearing structures for the docks, and the construction of provisional paths to allow the movement of the mechanical equipment that will expand the docks. The initiative aims to modernize the port complex, with a view to the region’s integrated development, to increase the tourists and incoming and transit business flows. The works include the construction of two new piers, respectively for commercial and passenger traffic, and related ground services for docking ships and the movement of goods and passengers. The restoration program for the port of Vlore is part of a wider portfolio of interventions by the Italian Cooperation in the field of transport and infrastructure in Albania, which amounts to over €100 million.
