Alexandria – Eni has made a major gas discovery in the exploration prospect of Nooros, located in Abu Madi West, in the Nile Delta, 120 kilometers north-east of Alexandria. Preliminary estimates indicate that the field could contain 15 billion cubic meters of gas. “The great discovery – reads a statement from the group – was made in the Nidoco NW 2 Dir exploratory well, drilled at a depth of 3,600 meters deep. At about 60 meters, the well encountered a net mineralized gas thickness in a sandstone Messinian sequence with good petrophysical properties, as well as subtle levels in the overlying Pliocene sequence.” The new field will be put into production in about two months thanks to its connection to the central gas processing in Abu Madi, located 25 kilometers south-east.
