Bistat – The commitment of the Italian contingent, part of the UNIFIL mission in southern Lebanon, is to help people and local institutions. In recent days, the CIMIC (Civil Military Cooperation) division of Sector West, represented by the Brigata Aeromobile Friuli under the command of General Salvatore Cuoci, completed and delivered a number of projects to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of villages south of the Litani river. In particular, they carried out works in a public school in the village of Alma As Sha’b to adapt the electrical system and guarantee the maintenance operations of the premises. In Bistat, they opened a retaining wall near the town, to ensure the safe passage of vehicles along the stretch of road that connects the village to Dirghayya and Ma’Rub. In both cases, the local authorities expressed great satisfaction and gratitude for the support provided by the contingent in favor of the local population, activities continuously carried out by Italian peacekeepers in the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
