August 4, 2015 – One of the revelations of the new Italian music takes over San Francisco, where Debora Petrina will perform on Thursday, August 6 at 6:30pm at the headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institute. “Roses of the Day,” her new album, is a collection of re-inventions for voice and piano of classic rock, singer-songwriters and contemporary music, that includes Piero Ciampi, Nick Drake, David Sylvian, Eurythmics, Talking Heads and The Doors. The album also touches on some jazz standards and two pieces by Morton Feldman and John Cage. The song that gives title to the album, “Roses of the Day”, is an original solo voice by John Cage, but in the Italian artist’s reinvention it has become an autonomous piece for voice and piano, at the behest of Peters Editions of New York, who printed the score. On stage, Petrina will use an I-Pad to produce and control live effects and loops, creating multiple items, percussive sounds that amplify the piano and voice.
