Oxford – There’s a philosopher at Google. Even better, an Italian philosopher: Luciano Floridi, born in Rome 50 years ago, is Professor of Philosophy and Information Ethics at Oxford University. Floridi just completed his first year within the Consultation Committee on the right to be forgotten at Google. In an interview with Il Corriere della Sera, Floridi reaffirms his belief that the high-tech industry needs thought: “Google like many other companies has and is facing prolems that go well bbeyons technological or legal issues. Google has to deal with conceptual and ethical matters, that is to say philosophical questions. It’s happening as the information industry is entering its mature phase and needs to answer structural questions that deal with the nature of our culture, howw we want to build our future and the environment we want to live in.” (9colonne)
