17 August, 2015 – Carmen Consoli is the artist who will represent Italy at the Meltdown Festival that starts today and takes over London until August 30. The “cantantessa”, who will perform on August 21, was chosen by the artistic director of the prestigious event, which changes every year, David Byrne, founder of Talking Heads and winner of an Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy for Best Original Score for the film by Bernardo Bertolucci, “The Last Emperor”. So far, the only Italian artist to have participated in the Festival is Dona Cristina, who performed in 2001. Carmen Consoli will take the stage of the SouthBank Centre of the City, the same as Estrella Morente, Anna Calvi and Benjamin Clementine. (Red)
