24 August, 2015 – It’s the ninth (and penultimate) meeting in Tirana for this year’s edition of the film festival “Nights Of Italian Cinema”. On Wednesday, August 26 at 9pm, the Auditorium of the University of Arts in Tirana will screen Giulio Manfredonia’s comedy “La nostra terra”. The movie tells the story of a strange anti-mafia movement, one promoted by planting tomatoes. Organized by the Italian Institute of Culture and DocuTIFF (in collaboration with Cinecittà Luce, Adriapol, Eurolab, Aperol, Peroni, Mapo and Digitalb and sponsored by the Albanian Ministry of Culture), the Nights of Italian Cinema kicked off in July and is dedicated to cinema made in Italy. After the screening of ” L’Intrepido” by Gianni Amelio, “La sedia della felicità” by Carlo Mazzacurati, “La variabile umana” by Bruno Oliviero, “La mossa del pinguino” by Claudio Amendola, “Noi credevamo” by Mario Martone, “Tutti i santi giorni” by Paolo Virzì, “Buongiorno papà” by Edoardo Leo, and “9x 10 Novanta” by the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, it is time for Manfredonia’s latest film. The Roman artist, born in 1967, is the grandson of the famous director Luigi Comencini. In the film, the female protagonist is Maria Rosaria Russo, who plays the beautiful and determined Rossana alongside Sergio Rubini and Stefano Accorsi. “La nostra terra” tells a story inspired by the experiences of cooperatives born on the lands confiscated from the mafia in many parts of Italy. Distributed by Visionaria and Videa, the film was released in Italian cinemas last September. Mother of two, and wife of seven years of Giulio Manfredonia (“her” director), Maria Rosaria Russo stars as the main character after a long career in feature films (Amore bugie e calcetto, Si può fare, Tutto tutto niente niente) and fiction for television (I Liceali, Fratelli Detective, Nemici amici). The film will be preceeded by the screening of “Ana” by Ani Meziri. The next round of “Nights of Italian cinema” is scheduled for September 2 with “Italian movies” by Matteo Pellegrini. (PO / red)
