September 7th, 2015 – An 800-meter long submarine cable brings electricity to the residents of the Caiçara Cajaíba community in Paraty, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. This is the latest innovation proposed by Ampla, a company of the Enel Group in Brazil, as part of the Luz para todos project, designed to ensure stable access to electricity to large parts of the Brazilian population that still do not have this essential service. The submarine cable was laid to the bottom of the Saco do Mamanguá by a team of 30 people, including technicians, divers and an oceanographic expert, who used a ferry, three boats and many tugs. Thanks to the new power line, 83 residents of the coastal areas of Cajaíba will be able to have electricity 24/7.
