September 30th, 2015 – “Chiara di Assisi. Elogio della disobbedienza” is the title of the latest novel by Dacia Maraini, which the writer will present at a meeting at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne on Sunday, 18 October at 7.15pm. The event is part of the events organized for the 15th edition of the Week of the Italian language in the World. The conference, in Italian and German, will be moderated by Lucio Izzo. A twenty-year-old of the 21st century, Chiara, brings Dacia Maraini closer to one of the highest figures of Christian mysticism, Chiara di Assisi. Literary artifice or reality, the writer discovers and explores the historic and human of the Saint, revealing little known, and sometimes surprising, aspects of Chiara that many of us know mainly through traditional hagiography. Dacia Maraini is certainly among the best-known Italian writers in the world. With a fascinating and adventurous biography, she made her debut in the literary world at 21, publishing stories in prestigious journals. In 1962, she published her first novel, “La vacanza”, followed by many others that won numerous literary awards. (Red)
