Dubai – The Friendship and Cooperation Association between Italy and the United Arab Emirates, promoted by the Italian Institute for Asia and the Mediterranean (Isiamed), has been created, also in light of the beginning of the transition from the Universal Exhibition of Milan 2015 and that of Dubai 2020. Expo Dubai has the primary objective, as the title says, of “Connecting Minds”, cultures and peoples. The relay between Milan and Dubai gives great opportunities to Italian companies that are already exporting to the Emirates (Italy’s first partner in the Gulf region), for a exchange of goods worth nearly €5 billion per year. Emirates investments in Italy have also developed rapidly. In mid-October, accompanied by Sheikh of Dubai Al Maktum, 200 entrepreneurs will be in Milan. Mayor Pisapia and the Sheikh of Dubai will sign, alongside 80 other global cities, the Urban Food Policy Plan (a paper on the food system in large metropolitan areas) that the next day will be handed over to the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, on occasion of the World Food Day.
