Caracas –2015 draws to a close, and Venezuela continues to register an increasingly pervasive crime rate, violent and uncontrollable. Homicides back in 1998 were 4,500; 21,692 in 2012; and 24,980 in 2014 (according to the Observatorio Venezolano de Violencia) with a rate of 82 deaths per 100.000 inhabitants in the capital alone, rising to 118 per 100.000 inhabitants (according to Business Insider) across the country, placing it third in the world rankings, after San Pedro Sula (Honduras) with 169 homicides and Acapulco (Mexico) with 143 homicides.
