November 16th, 2015 – The slopes of Mount Etna let the curtain falls on the Nemoh project, a network-based project featuring training initiatives coordinated by the Marie Curie Actions of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. The project was coordinated by the director of the Volcanoes Structure of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), Paolo Papale, to support training activities for a new generation of volcanologists. To this goal, Nemoh trained 18 young researchers of international standing, and will be making its final considerations from today until November 18 in Catania, at Palazzo Platamone – Palace of Culture during the closing event. The Network consists of 12 partners from 9 European countries, coordinated by the INGV. The young researchers followed an individual training program, which consisted in carrying out independently their research, developed in one of the participating organizations, and in attending seminars and workshops in specialized schools, open to many other young researchers, thus creating the conditions for further exchanges and enrichments. During the final Nemoh conference, young researchers will present their scientific activities and achievements. The conference will be enriched by the presence and participation of internationally renowned scientists, who will contribute their views on the main open issues and the most promising developments, to identify with the Nemoh community the new frontiers of scientific research in volcanology.
