Buenos Aires – Gathered at the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, representatives of the Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica (CNEA) and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics signed a first collaboration agreement for nuclear physics, particle and astroparticle research. The agreement provides for cooperation in science and technology on both fundamental and applied research, for the development of technology transfer initiatives in advanced computing, for the development and application of particle accelerators and nuclear medicine. For the first time, in particular, cooperation between the two countries includes plans of joint research for the development of applications in nuclear physics and medicine, thanks to the collaboration between INFN Pavia and CNEA on technical BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy) for cancer therapy. “The signing of the agreement”, said the president of the INFN, Fernando Ferroni, “will strengthen the fruitful cooperation between CNEA and INFN on BNCT research and expand cooperation to other fields, also facilitating the exchange of young researchers.” (9Colonne)
