Pristina – The exercise “Silver Sabre” is the most important annual exercise conducted by NATO forces in Kosovo to evaluate their ability to respond to security threats in the Balkan country, where KFOR has been presented for over 15 years. This year’s impressive event, which saw more than 600 soldiers from 31 countries operate dozens of armored vehicles and helicopters, wanted to demonstrate the high level of cooperation achieved by KFOR in support of the EU EULEX Mission and of local police forces. In Kosovo, over 500 Italian troops operate, and Italy stands as the second largest contributor in terms of troops after the United States. KFOR commander Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta confirmed that, once again, KFOR has proven to be a prepared, flexible and effective force in its dual role as primary guarantor of Kosovo’s security and as third actor in the response to public order disruptances.
