November 24th, 2015 – Toronto pays homage to the culture and tradition of Naples just a few days before Christmas by hosting a special concert. On December 10 at 7.30pm, the Toronto Heliconian Club (35 Hazelton Avenue) will feature the Vesuvius Ensemble. Promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of the city, the concert will give the public the opportunity to listen to Francesco Pellegrino, Romina Di Gasbarro, Marco Cera, and Lucas Harris perform. The group will play Christmas with the traditional bagpipe instruments of southern Italy. The Italian tenor Francesco Pellegrino began his career very early and by the age of ten he was an interpreter of traditional Neapolitan and classical music. Marco Cera has been an oboist since 2007 for the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Toronto). As a guitarist, he is part of the Polaris Ensemble, a Canadian band specializing in ethnic repertoire. Lucas Harris began his musical career as a jazz guitarist in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, but plays the lute in the Neapolitan ensemble. (Red)
