New York – The Museum of Modern Art in New York turns the spotlight on and one of the most influential, but in many ways still relatively unknown, Italian directors: Antonio Pietrangeli. Through a retrospective organized by the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà and the MoMA, the public will enjoy eleven films, exploring the evolution of a cinematic career that ranged from the early 1950s to the mid 1960s. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for December 3, with the restored version of “Io la conoscevo bene,” released in 1965. The exhibit will continue with masterpieces “La Visita” and “Adua e le compagne”, and other movies to be rediscovered like “Il sole negli occhi”, “Lo scapolo”, and “La parmigiana”. Starting February 5, the restored version of Io la conoscevo bene will screen in New York theaters and on VOD. The exhibition confirms the value of cultural promotion as sponsored by Luce-Cinecittà, and how it can open new market opportunities for Italian cinema. (9Colonne)
