Paris – XXL is, as the name suggests, the largest census of galaxy clusters ever carried out by the XMM-Newton telescope of the European Space Agency (ESA). It’s an ambitious project that involved about a hundred scientists from all over the world, including many from the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) and that now begins to bear its fruit. The first results of the scientific inquiry have been published today in a special issue of Astronomy & Astrophysics. (9Colonne)
