December 15th, 2015 – The great genius of the Renaissance is in the Czech Republic for an exclusive exhibition. From today until March 20, the Imperial Stables of the Prague Castle will host “Titian Vanitas – the poet of the image and nuances of beauty.” This is the largest Titian works and memorabilia exhibition ever held in the Czech Republic, with numerous loans leaving Italian territory for the first time. Masterpieces include: the “Flora” and two self-portraits from the Uffizi Gallery, the “Vanità” from the Accademia di San Luca and the “Deposizione” from the Burgundy Museum of Vercelli. One of the exhibition sections is entirely devoted to the presentation of rare pieces, such as the degree with which Emperor Charles V appointed Tiziano Vecellio, Palatine Duke, the personal seal of the Maestro and the volumes of his library on loan from the Magnificent Community of Cadore. For the curator of the exhibition, Lionello Puppi, professor emeritus at the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice and one of the leading Titian experts in the world, the Renaissance genius was deeply moved by crisis in which Europe and the Church Roman were entering, a crisis that became visible in the tension of his portraiture.
