Washington – Month-on-month data analysis reveals that in November 2015, trade in goods with non-EU countries are showing signs of recovery, both for exports (+ 3.7%) and imports (+ 1.1%). The analysis was carried out by ISTAT, which also confirmed the year-on-year positive trend (+ 3.0%) after three months of consecutive declines. Exports exceeded imports by €3.3 billion, for a €667 million increase compared to November last year. Soaring exports characterize almost all the main groups of goods, with the exception of energy (-11.3%) and durable consumer goods (-5.5%), and with a sharp increase in non-durable consumer goods (+ 7.9%). For imports, there is the same trade for the same sectors, with a more marked increase for intermediate products (+ 4.3%). Despite the cyclical increase in November, the quarterly change in exports is slightly negative (-0.3%), but it’s positive (+ 0.5%) once energy products are excluded. Among the major export partners, there are United States (+ 13.2%), which confirm – although it’s slowing – the upward trend of the first eleven months of the year (+21.2%). A positive and accelerating trend has instead characterized Italian exports to Japan (+ 21.4% in November 2015, + 1.5% in January-November 2015), China (+ 6.6% in November 2015, + 0.1% since January) and other Asian countries (+ 6.7% in November 2015, + 3.1% since January).
