(December 31, 2015) The Italian Cultural Institute of New York opens its doors on Thursday, January 21 (6 pm) to Gianandrea Noseda, one of the leading conductors of his generation. Noseda, born in Milan in 1964, has been chosen as Director of the Year by Musical America’s 2015. Harvey Sachs, a musical expert, will introduce the meeting. Appreciated and applauded around the world – from Austria to China, from France to Germany via Japan and Russia – Noseda worked with a lot of orchestras including the London Symphony, which he regularly conducts at the Barbican Centre and on tour, NHK Symphony Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Teatro alla Scala and the Vienna Symphony. Noseda has even a durable association with the Metropolitan Opera, dating back to 2002, when he conducted many new productions including, in the season 2013-2014, an acclaimed new version of the Prince Igor, together with the director Dmitri Tcherniakov. For the incoming season – as stated on the website of the IIC in New York – Noseda will conduct the Metropolitan Opera’s Orchestra and Chorus for Bizet’s Les Pecheurs de Perles. (Red)
