Washington – Horus Technology, an Italian startup that combines robotics, health tech and augmented reality for the visually impaired and blind received a $900,000 investment from the American 5Lion Holdings. In 2015, Horus Technology grew by 400% thanks to considerable international visibility in the ventures world – such as Unicredit Startlab, IBM SmartCamp and EIT Digital Idea Challenge – and the success of a crowdfunding campaign on TIM WCAP 2014, Telecom Italia’s acceleration program. More than 80% of investments will be dedicated to research and development, turning efforts into a wearable device able to process information captured through sophisticated sensors and transmit them in the form of auditory stimuli through bone conduction. The product will be marketed by autumn 2016 and is patent pending. (9Colonne)
