(18 January, 2016) “We are delighted to be in Los Angeles with the very best of Italian authors and cinema,” said an enthusiastic Tiziana Rocca, General Manager of the TaorminaFilmFest. The Taormina Film Festival is presenting the first edition of TaorminaFilmFest LosAngeles as a two-day event (January 20-21) full of movies and initiatives at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles (the Festival is supported by the Italian Consulate General). There are several Italian stars crossing the Atlantic for the event: Valeria Golino, Elio Sofia, Francesco Cannavà, and Cecilia Peck just to name a few. “We announced it last year during the 61st edition of our Festival – emphasized Rocca – the idea was to promote Italian cinema abroad, especially those films made by Sicilians authors. And now, the idea has become reality. We begin this adventure with just two days, but in the future our goal is to build something bigger.” The realization of the first edition of TaorminaFilmFest LosAngeles was made possible thanks to an agreement with the Italian Cultural Institute in LA and its director Valeria Rumori, the Italian Consulate General in LA and the ITA – all three institutions believed inthe idea of bringing to a Los Angeles an Italian film festival featuring Sicily’s independent production. Among the project partners there is also Gerardo Sacco, master jewelry maker for many films in the history of Italian and international cinema, who will be honored with a trailer video presenting his creations.
