(28 January 2016) A real, yet extraordinary journey welcomes tourists, writers, directors, musicians, and chefs for a trip across the Mediterranean, from Civitavecchia to Barcelona, on April 20-24, to celebrate World Book Day. It’s a great event for all book and culture lovers organized for the 7th consecutive year by “Leggere:tutti” and Grimaldi Lines. The Cruise Barcelona leaves the Civitavecchia port on April 20 with nearly 500 booths ready to welcome its passengers. A full calendar of events – book launches, film screenings, wine tastings, shows – promises to make the journey a truly unique experience. And the book tribute continues on land, with conferences open to all organized with the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian House of Barcelona. Many authors of great appeal answered the call to come aboard, including Diego De Silva, Emanuela Ersilia Abbadessa, Roberto Ippolito, Roberto Riccardi, Gaetano Savatteri, Lorenzo Marone, Sara Rattaro, Vittorio Russo and director Calopresti. During navigation, guests will also be able to see the photo exhibition “I tanti Pasolini” made with material from the Riccardi Archives and curated by Maurizio Riccardi and Giovanni Currado for the 40th anniversary of the artist’s death. Travelers will arrive in the Catalan capital is scheduled for the evening of April 21, with transfer to a hotel. The next day, tourists will be able to freely explore the city, while on April 23 a fascinating show will surprise the guests, in an invasion of books and roses. Because on the same day that the world celebrates World Book Day, Barcelona pays tribute to the centennial La Diada de Sant Jordi tradition in which people flock to the Rambla and squares to share and exchange a book and a rose. The city comes alive with literary events and libraries displaying on the road books and baskets full of roses. Leggere:tutti will be on the Rambla with an installation representing one of the boats used by migrants to arrive in Italy, with the books, written in the languages of the Mediterranean: a symbol to state emphatically that there are no borders for race and color that can prevent culture from becoming the bearer of messages of peace and solidarity. The theme of migration will also be explored on board the cruise, as there are  many original voices from different countries speaking: among them, Igiaba Scego, Italian writer and journalist of Somali origin, and Anilda Ibrahimi, an Albanian journalist and writer today living in Italy.
