(29 January, 2016) “I took five elderly persons from the Lombard province – two couples and a widower, all afflicted with more or less disastrous ailments – and I took them on vacation in Nice. In a Jaguar, in a four-star hotel, eating at a list of luxurious restaurants and with unlimited credit on an American Express. Between a stroll through Cimiez’s gardens and a private clinic run by a Daniel Auteuil lookalike, Cesare, who narrates the story, goes looking for his dear friend Leo Meyer, renown writer who made his debut in the 1980s and founded a publishing house.” Piersandro Pallavicini’s novel” Romanzo per signora “(2013, Feltrinelli) is currently the popular topic of conversation at the Italian Cultural Institute of Hamburg, where it will be formally presented on February 9 at 7pm. The event was organized by the ICI in collaboration with Folio Verlag and Feltrinelli publishers. “Do you like reading? Do you like to discuss literature? – this is the invitation sent our from the Institute – then we are happy to welcome you in our literary café. Once a month, we will exchange impressions, ideas and personal experiences on one or more books on a different topic, in Italian and German. On February 9, we’ll talk about Romanzo per Signora (in German ‘Ausfahrt Nice’ edited by Folio Verlag)”. Pallavicini’s novel is a tragicomic piece that narrates the adventures of five elderly in Nice trying to resurrect their past happiness in the present. Pallavicini will be at the Institute on February 19 for the presentation of his latest novel, “Una commedia italiana” (event moderated and translated by Francesca Bravi). (Red)
