(15 February 2016) In the first nine months of 2015, Italian marble and granites imports in Brazil reached €69.5 million, for a 38.4% increase compared to the same period of 2014. Brazil thus confirms itself as the world’s second largest buyer of machinery and technology made in Italy intended for stone processing, with €69.1 million in orders from January to September 2015 (+ 46.2%). The Osservatorio Marmomacc and Confindustria Marmomacchine analyzed and released the data and trends. It thus appears that a considerably-strong trade axis between Italian and Brazilian marble is taking shape, strengthened by the overseas trip of 27 Italian companies exhibiting in the 41st edition of Vitória Stone Fair Marmomacc-Latin America, which starts tomorrow. The event, which will run until February 19 in Vitoria, Brazil, is the most important industry event in South America, hosting more than 420 exhibitors, of which 30% originates from 12 countries, including major world producers such as Italy, Turkey, India, Portugal and China. The festival was organized in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo by Fiera di Verona through its subsidiary Veronafiere do Brasil. “Since 2012, we have chosen to preside over this region, which concentrates 90% of national investment in the field of marble – explained Giovanni Mantovani, Director General of VeronaFiere – Brazil is among the top five industries stone in the world, and represents a strategic market in setting up a network of international events dedicated to the stone business.” (Red)
