(1 March, 2016) Philosopher, historian, politician, literary critic and writer, but also chief ideologue of liberalism and 20th century Italian exponent of neo-idealism… Benedetto Croce was many things. And today, 150 years since his birth (Pescasseroli, February 25, 1866 – Naples, Nov. 20, 1952), the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon wants to highlight his contemporary elements and greatness. Professor Emanuele Cutinelli-Rendina, director of the Department of Italian Studies of the University of Strasbourg, will speak tonight (at 7pm) at the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon in a conference (in Italian with consecutive translation in Portuguese) entitled “Benedetto Croce our contemporary”. Cutinelli-Rendina is also professor of Italian studies in the same University and scholar of political thought, historiography and memoirs of the Renaissance, having published numerous studies on the work of Benedetto Croce.
