Paris – In Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines and China, Salvatore Cuomo’s team collected 150.000 signatures in support of the candidacy of Pizza and the art of Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Cuomo, ambassador and pioneer of Neapolitan pizza in Asia, had already visited Argentina, reigning in 50.000 signatures, and Sao Paulo, bringing home another 50.000. So far, between Italy and abroad, 90.000 signatures have been collected. The next round of the #pizzaUnesco campaign will be in Paris on Monday, March 14, when Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, promoter of the petition, together with Coldiretti President Roberto Moncalvo and the President of the Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli Association (APN) Sergio Miccù, will bring “the first million” signatures to the UNESCO headquarters, with a public event scheduled from 6.30pm to 8.30pm in the Unesco Cafeteria. The collection of signatures continues in the farmers’ markets organized by Campagna Amica, in pizzerias around the world and on the Change.org platform. “The campaign has gone international – said Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio – and the #pizzaUnesco is now viral on social media, with #pizza becoming a trending topic. What we have to do now is take global action to convince the 200 UNESCO member states to vote on the nomination. ” “Being able to collect 150.000 signatures in Asia – says Salvatore Cuomo – demonstrates how the art of Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli, from every corner of the world, is unique. A quality that UNESCO must recognize”. (9Colonne)
