(9 March 2016) The headquarters of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, located in the residential area of Palermo (one of the most elegant neighborhoods in the city) welcomed today the signing ceremony regarding a cooperation agreement between the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Province of Buenos Aires for the promotion of economic development with particular focus on industry, agriculture, tourism, scientific and technological innovation, investment and cooperation among universities, and vocational training. These are the salient ingredients of a partnership that will further strengthen the cooperation and joint projects between companies, universities and institutions of the two countries, with the direct involvement of the Emilia-Romagna community. The signing ceremony was attended by Emilia Romagna Regional President Stefano Bonaccini, the Italian Ambassador to Argentina Teresa Castaldo and the Dean of the University of Bologna Francesco Ubertini. For almost a century, the hall of the Italian Ambassador’s residence in Buenos Aires served as a crossroads for political, social, economic and cultural debates and negotiations. Under the watchful and curious gaze of the “Gentlewoman” portrayed on the wall, Emilia Romagna representatives Bonaccini and Ubertini shook hands with their local counterparts. The two Italians led an institutional delegation that recently met with the Ministers of Education, Science & Technology, of Productive Innovation and of Health. The delegation also spoke with the City Government of Buenos Aires and with the Dean of the Argentine headquarters of the University of Bologna. “Argentina is very interested in the proposals put forth by the Region and the University of Bologna, in the wake of the recent visit of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi – stressed Bonaccini – Our mission today is to strengthen cooperation between the two territories, enriching each other on several fronts, in particular in terms of economic development and training”.
