Tunis – A delegation of Italian Regions is in Tunisia today for a series of institutional meetings to identify the best means by which the regional system can help support the democratic process and economic development of the Arab country. Throughout the meetings, the various participants will seek the best forms of collaboration with central and local government authorities of the north African state. The mission, led by the President of Sardinia Region Francesco Pigliaru and supported by the Italian Embassy in Tunis, will last for two days. The Italian group will meet with the heads of border, Mediterranean and international cooperation, examining different aspects of the agreements and programs existing between Italy and Tunisia, with particular reference to education, and discussing possible future strategies for the strengthening of cooperation between Italy and the Tunisian regions in socio-economic, development and environmental fields.
