(23 March 2016) The Foreign Ministry network (Embassies, Consulates, Italian Cultural Institutes) continues its mission to spread worldwide the best of Italian culture. One example among many is the course on Eugenio Montale organized by the Munich Italian Cultural Institute and Forum Italia e.V. The course, entitled “Una cellula di miele. Montale e la poesia italiana del Novecento”, was set up by Federico Italiano and will take place April 26 and May 3-10 (6-9pm). The 1975 Nobel Prize Literature Laureate Montale (1896-1981) is at the center of the 20th century literary canon. Precise yet full of mystery, his poetic language is one of the highest of the Italian tradition. The course, divided into three sessions, will see participants read and discuss the most representative poems of Montale’s work, reliving in them the most important moments of Italian cultural history: from 1925, the year “Ossi di seppia” was published, to 1973, when “Diario del 71’ e 72’” reached bookshelves worldwide. From the works of the Italian poet, the course also offers brief forays in the texts of other great Italian poets of the 20th century, such as Ungaretti, Saba, Fortini and Sereni. The course, which will be held in Italian, is dedicated to all literature aficionados with good command of the written Italian language. (Red)
