Kabul – Tomorrow will set the kick off of the “Chamlang Expedition 2016”, the fourth expedition of the project “Vertical Dreams” of the Alpine Training Center in Aosta High Mountain Military Section and that will have as main objective the opening of a new route on the virgin wall north of the Himalayan mountain. The climb will be attempted by chosen Corporal Mark Farina and Corporal François Cazzanelli that in December 2014 with Chosen Corporal Marco Majori reached the summit of the famous Cerro Torre along the “Spiders Way” in Patagonia. For 2016 mountaineers have decided to devote their attention and their preparation to the Himalayas. The Chamlang is a mountain that reaches the height of 7319 meters on its western summit, as well as presenting two peaks of lower height (central and eastern), all higher than 7100 meters. Noticed in 1954 by Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to reach the summit of Everest, the Chamlang was climbed the first time in 1962 by a Japanese expedition, but given the high technical difficulties few shipments so far have managed to reach the summit.
